14 Golden Rules for Academic Success
Homework
1. Students must hand in all homework on time.
2. Students are to ask questions on class and homework assignments.
3. When absent, students must obtain missed assignments from their teachers.
Preparation
1. Students must attend school in complete unifom.
2. Students must arrive on time every day.
3. Students must attend class with three sharpened pencils.
Academic Effort
1. Students must actively participate in class and follow along carefully.
2. In every class, students must discipline themselves and work as hard as possible.
3. Students should carry a pleasure reading book at all times.
4. Students must always listen to the teacher.
Behavior
1. Students must treat others with kindness and respect.
2. Students must sit in focus position in class- sitting up straight, facing forward, feet on the floor, and hands on the desk and table.
3. Students do not get out of their seats without permission.
4. Students must follow the teacher's directions right away and all the way.

About the Teacher
My name is Amy Novosel. This is my sixth year of teaching third grade and my tenth year of teaching. In the past I have taught first, fifth and sixth grade. My teaching philosophy includes planning hands-on creative lessons that keep the children actively engaged in what we are learning. I really believe in Confucius's saying:
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

Eduplace is a great companion website for the Houghton Mifflin curriculum. It offers extra practice as well as online educational games. For those of you who love to challenge your children you can access fourth and fifth grade math worksheets.
This is a wonderful website that will enable students to master third grade reading, math, and writing skills. Students will have weekly assignments on this website. All user names and passwords have been distributed. Please contact me if you are having difficultly logging on.
