Classroom Rules and Expectations

In order to ensure that we have a successful year, the 5th grade team has set clear rules and expectations for our students.

1.      Students are expected to complete homework every night and have it completed and ready to turn in by the assigned due date. There will be penalties for late work and demerits will be assigned.

2.      Students are ALWAYS responsible for all of their actions, behaviors, and interactions with others. Students are expected to respect themselves and each other at all times. We have a zero tolerance for students being disrespectful to anyone or anything while on school property.

3.      If a student is absent, they will have however many days they were absent to make up the work that they missed. Students and parents are expected to check the teacher websites to keep up with missed assignments.

4.      Students should always be prepared for class with sharpened pencils and other necessary materials listed on supply list. Students who are not prepared for class will receive a consequence.

5.      Students need to be at school and in the classroom before 8:00 am. Teachers will not repeat themselves as late students enter the class. Breakfast will not be provided for late students.

6.      Students may not have gum at anytime. Snacks are allowed at lunch time only.

7.      We have a zero tolerance policy for students who do not follow uniform dress code. Students dressed out of code will be sent to the Dean of Students until they are in proper uniform.

8.      Quality work is always expected from our fifth grade students:

-Name, date, class & period, and assignment title at the top right-hand of paper, pages numbered if necessary

- Answers written in complete sentences, in cursive only

- Papers are clean, neat, and unwrinkled.

Goals for the Year

Our goal for this school year will be to get a better understanding of what Science really is.  Through the Scientific Method and hands-on discovery, I expect that each student will have a deeper appreciation of this content area!
