Notes For Parents
Parents: Your child brought home a spelling bee list last week (week of April 26). Please have your child review the words. We have had a few "sample" spelling bees in the classroom to help prepare the students. There will be three students chosen per team/grade for the final spelling bee which will be held towards the end of May.
About the Teacher
My name is Mrs. Ruth Beltran and I have been teaching second grade at FFA for four years. I previously taught first grade in Macon, Georgia for seven years and kindergarten for ten years in Bear, DE. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I have also taken several Master level classes in education. One goal I have for the near future is to go back to school to become a Reading Specialist.
I really enjoy teaching elementary school and think it is very rewarding especially when a student says, "I understand now. I think I am getting it!"
In my spare time, I enjoy walking and bike riding with my husband. I also like watching cooking shows in hopes that it will help improve my culinary skills!

Class News
Multi-cultural was the week of April 26 and it was quite a success! We learned many interesting facts about Haiti from some wonderful books from the public library and gathering information from the Internet. Also many families sent in delicious food from many cultures for us to enjoy. Thank you families for the time, effort and expense you gave in order to make these delicious meals possible!
